As much as I love crafting handmade cocktails, it is really important for me to learn as many classic cocktails as possible. One of the things that I am going to start implementing into my program is learning one new classic cocktail a shift. Last night I made my first Sloe Gin Fizz and I actually really liked it. I used the recipe of 1 1/2 ounce of sloe gin, 1/2 of fresh lemon juice topped with soda water. I noticed in Dale Degroff's book, The Essential Cocktail, he adds simple syrup to his Gin Fizz but I decided to keep it out and I think it works perfectly. I love how suprised I can get from classic cocktails and how much I love to learn them. I'm off today but I hope tomorrow to make my first Singapore Sling.
